Carpoolers #32

Alejandro Cartagena

Alejandro Cartagena, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, lives and works in Monterrey, Mexico. Cartagena’s work has been exhibited internationally in more than 50 group and individual exhibitions in spaces including the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris and the CCCB in Barcelona. His works explore social, urban, and environmental challenges. In his renowned Carpoolers series Cartagena captured migrant workers from overpass in their daily commutes through the city. Cartagena says, that ‘this project comes from a desire to tell the story of the dramatic environmental, economic, and demographic changes playing out in my home city of Monterrey.’

Why we believe in this NFT: This series has circulated the internet since 2011 and has been exhibited widely around the world. Entering the NFT world, it changed the Metaverse in terms of acceptance of photography. The series can be seen as a kind of door opener for the awareness of NFT photography.

We warmly welcome Alejandro Cartagena to Jenny DAO
