Former actress, writer, and restaurant owner Simone Monte turned to photography because she wanted to tell stories through her images. Stories about her town São Paulo, stories about life. Her first personal project Rio was awarded by National Geographic. Monte is living and working between Brazil and Italy. Simone Monte describes her series ROMA as follows: "ROMA is a documental essay of our recent history. It shows the year of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic in the city of Rome. It reveals a time immersed in solitude, anguish, melancholy, fear, but also hope in one of the most impressive cities on the planet. It tells about a foreign woman and her camera in this apocalyptic moment in a city where old and new blend together. It is about leaving behind our fast-paced lives. It is about who we are, our frailties, our courage, and our human condition. Why we believe in: Simone Monte provides a straightforward and accurate representation of people, places, and events during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic in Rome, Italy.
We warmly welcome Simone Monte to Jenny DAO
